The Crudity of Ted Nugent

I understand that rocker Ted Nugent has labeled President Obama a “subhuman mongrel” and that he has since apologized for his choice of words. He specified, however, that he was not apologizing to the President.

Whether or not his apology is sincere, I am extremely bothered that he is apologizing only for his vocabulary, not for the vile and disgusting thoughts he was seeking to express. Democracy cannot exist — indeed, no healthy human community can exist — while its people find hatred and prejudice acceptable. The incredible and immeasurable ignorance by which one can imagine that it is okay to consider another person to be a “subhuman mongrel” is absolutely inexcusable.

Nugent, whether he knows it or not, has brought deep shame on himself and on all those (including his political friends in Texas) who tolerate such destructive and ungodly attitudes. There can be nothing in the political views of President Obama which is as inimical to America and to Christianity as the crudity of Ted Nugent.
