Life can get a bit heavy

Some days it just seems life is giving us too great a load. On such days I always remember this photo, identifying — of course — with the donkey. I am usually able to recognize that the problem is not really that the load is too heavy but that it is poorly organized. My prayer becomes, “Father, please help me see the priorities you have for me this day and guide me through them.”

Behind that simple prayer is the memory of what Jesus said. “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).

May you find rest this very day in our gentle, humble, and loving Lord. . .
