I keep thinking that folks on the Far Right will grow up, given enough time. My optimism, I fear, is quite unrealistic. The childish nonsense seems to flow unabated.
A recent bit by Limbaugh, for example, “explains” why some people are opposed to banning all flights from western Africa into the US during this ebola crisis. We have elected people, says Limbaugh in obvious reference to Obama, who believe we caused the ebola crisis by sending freed slaves to the new nation of Liberia. Therefore, we are obligated to be extra kind and generous with Liberians.
I say again as I have often had cause to say before: I’m proud to be an American in part because we allow people to say what they believe. . .but I’m ashamed of America for listening to such utter nonsense. How incredibly gullible can we be???
The greatest shame is not Limbaugh’s. He’s just a guy trying to make a buck without having any moral foundations whatsoever. The lack of integrity is not uncommon. The greatest shame is that, because people take the fool seriously, Limbaugh succeeds in making his dirty money.
