I have noted often in these pages that the Republican party is in the grip of a very self-centered attitude: Reality is supposed to be the way they want it to be. Most people pass through that stage of development by the time they are in kindergarten. It is sad to see adults stuck in such arrested development, especially the ones who think they are capable of leading the most powerful nation on earth.
The current occasion for whining is about the debates and particularly about the moderators. I agree that the moderators have also shown their immaturity, centering their attention primarily on who says what about whom. What is odd about the candidates is that they analyze the situation as being the hostility of moderators who disagree with them.
Ted Cruz wants Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Somebody Divine (sorry, I can’t recall the third fellow.) These are people (at least the two that I know) who are so far from “fair and balanced” that there is no conceivable way they could be useful moderators. If Ted Cruz can’t handle Harwood and Donald Trump can’t handle Kelly, then they should drop out of the race for high office. Do they think Putin will send only nice, agreeable people to talk with the US president?
I cannot imagine how to measure the foolishness and childishness of the Republican party today. They cannot get along with each other as well as pre-school children. And that is a very serious flaw which totally disqualifies them from any positions of leadership.
