I must confess to being baffled and disappointed by the so-called “Evangelical” support for Far Right politicians.
What should Christians be looking for in a political candidate? First and foremost is character. If we find a candidate to be mean-spirited, insulting and degrading to any who disagree with him, filled with an unlimited ego — all characteristics of Trump, wouldn’t you agree? — we cannot say he would be good for the country or for our faith.
Remember your history: In his first year as Chancellor of Germany, Hitler made repeated promises to guard the church and make Christianity the foundation of the new Germany.
Second is wisdom. The leader of the most powerful leader on the planet must be a person of real wisdom. Only a fool would thoughtlessly antagonize both enemies and friends alike. How humiliating for America that British citizens have forced their government to consider banning Trump from even entering their country.
Trump is used to intimidating and buying people. On the international scene, he would be in way, way over his head because neither of his two little tools would work with other national leaders. And he has no other leadership skills.
Christians, don’t be suckers for someone so strongly against the character of Jesus Christ.
