One of the innumerable signs of blatant hypocrisy and downright dishonesty on the part of the Republican party these days is the current argument against considering the President’s nominee for the Supreme Court. “We think there should be no nominee considered until the new president is elected. That way the people get to decide.”
Over and over and over again the Republicans have shown they do not care in the slightest what the American people want. Twice the people decided to elect Barack Obama as President. Before he even took office, the Republicans were vowing to block every idea he put forward. They did not care that Obama was the choice of the people.
They often claim to know what the people want, despite what elections and polls show. The problem, in its simplest form, is common to people of strong passions: They can hear only those who agree with them and are utterly deaf to any others. It is, of course, a sign of immaturity and a sure sign of being unqualified for public leadership.
The Republicans are without excuse for refusing to become grownups.
