Republican Rejection of Common Decency

Yes, I know Republican leaders are scrambling to find ways to stop Trump. I’m glad they have enough common sense to realize what a disastrous leader he would be, but I do not think for a moment that they oppose Trump because of his moral indecency. No, the evidence is abundantly and repeatedly made clear that the Republican Party has long since given up on common decency.

The latest evidence that the party is made of the same moral fiber as Trump is the fundraising letter that many people across the country received last week. On the envelope, in red capital letters, were the words, “Notice of Delinquency.” Since the contents of the envelope had nothing whatsoever to do with any kind of delinquency, it means the Republicans were lying to the recipients even before the envelopes were opened. A simple, straight-forward, bald faced lie. There cannot be any moral gymnastics to excuse such indecency.

What was inside the envelope was a “PAST DUE” notice. Or at least that’s what it claimed to be. In fact, it was nothing more than a fundraising letter. A common fundraising letter covered in uncommon moral filth.

The Republicans are feeding in trash bins while claiming the high moral ground. In fact, the party has destroyed any semblance of integrity or decency. And Trump is the cherry atop their garbage heap.
