What’s Wrong with Obamacare?

USA Today reports that the average annual medical expenses for a family of four are nearly $26,000. I cannot imagine anyone coming up with a way to argue that this can be ethically justified. Our healthcare system, since becoming dominated by the business mentality back in the 70s and 80s, has become a moral cesspool.

Whatever defense anyone might offer is nullified by the simple fact that a great many people are making a great deal of profit off the system. We are not paying out all that money for healthcare but for the unworthy cause of lining the pockets of large numbers of people in the industry.

My problem with Obamacare is that, despite all the rhetoric, it is not about healthcare at all but about insurance. If we’re going to improve healthcare in America — which we surely need to do — we have got to lower the excessive profits.Capitalism and healthcare do not make a healthy mix!
