Wow! Talk about a stark contrast! Tonight’s opening of the Democratic National Convention was amazingly refreshing after all the tension among the Republicans last week.
Both conventions allowed time on opening day for the runners up to speak. Ted Cruz in a mean-spirited way made a fool of himself and got booed from the stage for being so clearly opposed to the convention favorite, donald trump.
Bernie Sanders stood for several minutes enjoying the loud and wild cheers, then went on to give a rousing speech in support of Hillary Clinton.
One convention proved how divisive its party and its nominee are. The other demonstrated what diversity-within-unity looks like.
The difference between Cruz and Sanders is itself sufficient reason for people to reject the Republican party until it gets back on the road to maturity, good character, and wisdom. That may be a long while from now. . .or it may begin the day after the election in November.
