One of the marks of a dictator is his dislike of a free press. A tyrant — that is, a dictator with a mean streak — is an active antagonist against the press.
trump, who has repeatedly demonstrated that he is running for Tyrant of the United States, is becoming an active opponent of the press already. He not only complains frequently about the press and not only works hard to sow distrust of the press, now he is taking new initiative against it. He has sent out a questionnaire to his supporters asking 30 badly slanted questions about their feelings toward the press. He says this “poll” will give him a tool to use in his fight with the free press.
And in a separate email, he comments that “It is not ‘freedom of the press’ when newspapers and others are allowed to say and write whatever they want even if it is completely false!” Yes, you petty little tyrant, that is exactly what freedom of the press is. You might think it is too much freedom but you cannot with any degree of honesty say it is not freedom of the press.
My question is, Just how overt must trump be before his “supporters” realize he thinks precisely like a tyrant?
If you take stock of his way of thinking and acting, then add the power of the presidential office, he will no longer merely complain about a free press but will actively suppress it.
trump, as one of many signs of his incredible immaturity, hasn’t even the patience to wait until he has power. He is going after America’s free press, which is but one part of his enmity toward democracy.
How in the world can such a creature have “followers”? Shame on them all.
