I’m delighted with the delay on the House vote concerning Ryan’s health care plan, but there is a limit to my delight: the reason they don’t have the votes they need is that the far-right folk think the plan is too kind, too merciful.
I think it is a cruel plan, a barbarian plan totally unsuited for a civilized and wealthy people.
It is so bizarre that the alt-right wants to regress America back to the pre-Civil War era. These are a truly backward, unlettered people. They only know how to stand against anything of real value. They stand for nothing whatsoever, nothing at all.
I loved hearing Ryan admit what they should have known and been prepared for: After all these years of opposition, they actually don’t know how to move ahead with anything positive. Did you hear that: They truly don’t know how to move ahead.
That means we have a severe leadership vacuum in Washington. The only good news is that Trump proved unable to rush in and fill the gap with his own twisted version of leading.
