Trump’s Nepotism

Two things bother me about Trump’s appointment of both his daughter and his son-in-law to significant positions on his White House staff. The first is that it is very clearly the very kind of nepotism that our laws are designed to make illegal.

The second is that it reveals a very serious flaw in the way Trump thinks: Measuring everything merely by money, Trump thinks he can pursue all the nepotism he wants so long as he doesn’t pay his family members (who are already extremely rich and are sacrificing nothing). When money is the only “ethical” standard held by our president, we are in an extremely precarious position as a nation. Led by a man with no ethical sensitivity, no sign of personal integrity, we cannot predict from one moment to the next when he will lead us into some very stupid and costly decisions.

Without integrity a person cannot be trusted. Only a fool would trust a single word out of Trump’s utterly irresponsible mouth.
