The best many of us could hoping for was that the responsibilities of his office might jar Trump loose from his childishness and spur him to grow up. So long as he refuses to hold himself accountable for his own decisions, however, he will never become an adult.
It is amazing that he thinks Flynn’s security clearance, issued a few years ago, not only meant Flynn needed no vetting to be National Security Advisor but that somehow — in Trump’s very bizarre mind — that clearance absolved Flynn of his later, illegal work for Russia and Turkey. What kind of man uses such mindless logic?
Security clearance does not equal vetting for a specific job and it most certainly does not excuse future criminal activity. That is inescapably obvious and yet Trump is blind to the reality=, as usual.
We could conclude the Trump and his team are simply naive beyond belief but I find that to be. . . well, beyond belief. I believe Trump is just as guilty of collusion with the Russians as is Flynn. I believe Trump to be a traitor to America, not out of political reasons but financial. He is not intentionally an enemy of the United States but has slipped into that treasonous position because he simply doesn’t care about America. He has acted for his own gain, manipulating and weaseling his way into a level of trouble that is extremely serious.
And we’re all going to pay a price for his scurrilous ways.
