At first Trump backed Luther Strange in the Republican primary in Alabama. Strange lost.
Then Trump backed Roy Moore. He lost.
And we all wondered how Trump would declare victory in the face of the double defeat. Here’s what he wrote this morning:
“The reason I originally endorsed Luther Strange (and his numbers went up mightily), is that I said Roy Moore will not be able to win the General Election,” he wrote on Twitter. “I was right! Roy worked hard but the deck was stacked against him!”
“I was right!” Trump the narcissist is so incredibly self-centered that his first thoughts in every situation are about how to make himself look good. He creates a pitiful show. A man whose outer limits are his own skin lives in a very tiny universe. And a very lonely one.
But, with himself at the center of his own little universe, Trump cannot conceive of any way to overcome his loneliness except by trying to draw others into the universe. Many people have tired to obey but in the end all they end up with a a knife or two in the back and a lonely president.
