The Best of One

Modestly speaking, I am most certainly the finest husband my wife has ever had. If you were to make a list from best to last, my name would be at the top of the list.  By Trump’s mode of thinking, that makes me pretty hot stuff.

On the other hand, it seems to me that it is not much of an accomplishment, since mine is the only name on the list.

Thanks to Trump’s brilliant leadership, America is doing a fantastic job of leading the world, as we have been trying to do ever since WW II.  Just think of the current kerfuffle over where to locate our ambassador in Israel. Trump says it must be in Jerusalem “because it ‘s the right thing to do.” Not exactly astute reasoning but, when combined with his threats to cut off everybody’s aid from the US, Trump has again affirmed that America is first . . . on a list of one.

That’s not quite precise. In fact seven other nations have signed up to follow America’s lead. And it is an impressive list.

“Aside from Israel, the only countries to side with the United States by voting no were Guatemala, Honduras, Togo, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru and Palau — mostly tiny countries heavily dependent on American aid,” says one news report.

Only a man with an incredibly bloated ego could possibly twist reality so badly that he is proud of being at the head of such a list.

I know there are some people who think Trump is acting out of some philosophy of foreign relations. don’t be fooled. Trump is entirely incapable of understanding — let alone holding — a philosophy. What we are looking at in Donald Trump is always, always, always, his own ego. there is nothing else to him.

He wants America isolated not because of some principle but solely because his tiny mind and psyche simply cannot grasp any entity greater or bigger than himself. That’s why, for example, he could cause so many bankruptcies, cheat so many people so badly, make a million dollars off each of the bankruptcies, and declare himself a victor.  He does not set up corporations but keeps his business affairs entirely to himself.

I need to find some gigantic word to describe Trump’s pettiness, his smallness of mind, and his inability to outgrow being a spoiled brat.

  1. Mike, I thought about it for a while and I don’t think it’s possible that one single word could describe the magnitude of Trump’s pettiness and selfishness. Someday in the not too distant future, there will be a word and the word will be “trumplike,” or “trumply.” It will represent that egotistical small-mindedness, and also incorporate other qualities, such as dangerously deluded, incomprehensibly inept, cruelly corrupt, unimaginably immoral, and so many more. So Trump’s one contribution may be a new word for the Thesaurus.
